Great Point

The historic lighthouse at Great Point is only one of the things, which make this area so special. The spectacular views out over Nantucket Sound, the Atlantic Ocean, the sparkling white sand, and the abundance of wildlife, both avian and marine, make this, truly, a very special place.

The swimming is as good as it gets on both the Sound side and in the “Chord of the Bay”. The Atlantic Ocean offers cool refreshing swimming, while, just a short walk away, Nantucket Sound provides calmer and warmer waters.

The rip at Great Point, created by the meeting of the Atlantic Ocean and Nantucket Sound is a fascinating place. Seals and fishermen alike benefit from the unique feeding ground that it creates and the fishing is as good as anywhere on the Island.
